Room booking – Special rates available!

Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has a special  affordable for room bookings for our central Brighton studio for charities and small organisations in the community sector.
Our booking rate is only £7.50 per hour, so make some savings whilst you can!
Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has affordable space available to rent in its’ Brighton’s Open Market based studio (mezzanine level) between 9-6pm weekdays and weekends throughout the year.
If you’d like a cosy, central Brighton space to try out a new workshop activity, run training sessions, access hot desk space space, or to run a regular creative session for up to ten people each time (that’s our limit due to room size), then get in touch!

Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has a special Christmas offer for room bookings for our central Brighton studio.
Book between today and 21st December for dates in 2019 and you will get the 2018 rate for a session of £7 per hour.
From 22nd December 2018, our booking rate rises to £7.50 per hour, so make some savings whilst you can!

Remembering Together 

We are running a series of free community workshops at The Bridge in Brighton on Mondays in April, encouraging older people from the area to make Life History books to facilitate the celebration and sharing of memories.
Thank you to The Bridge for funding these sessions and hosting the activities.

One Day Reminiscence Training Course – Brighton

20160210_161315 (1)This one day reminiscence training course based at Strike a Light’s studio in Brighton takes place on Wednesday 20th June 2018 (10am-4pm).

It offers an overview of reminiscence work, including the background to the subject and will consider the benefits to be derived by both the people who reminisce and those who listen. We will explore a wide variety of reminiscence activities, which can be used to trigger personal memories and help a group to work well together.
By the end of the course, participants will have gained insight into what reminiscence is as a structured activity, and how it can be successfully and productively carried out.
The training day will offer a more expanded exploration of reminiscence work. It will include a detailed background to the subject and consider the benefits to be derived by both the people who reminisce and those who listen.
We will explore a wide variety of reminiscence activities, which can be used to trigger personal memories and help a group to work well together.
The day will include opportunities for the group to experience reminiscence activities, and group members will be encouraged throughout to contribute their own experience and ideas.
By the end of the training, participants will have gained insight into what reminiscence is as a structured activity, and how it can be successfully and productively carried out.
A free training pack with resources for each participant is provided as part of the course.

We are looking for an Exhibition Co-ordinator who will lead a collaborative process with 5 trans* volunteers – leading them in aspects/principles of design and display in order for them to inform the content of the exhibition.
We are looking for a book designer who will lead a collaborative process with 2 trans* volunteers – leading them in aspects/principles of book design in order for them to inform the published book. The book will be edited material drawn from transcribed interviews with (up to 20) trans* individuals, and accompanying photographs.
