The Balcony Studios at Brighton Open Market present a free drop in Halloween half term family event on Thursday October 31st from1-4pm.
We welcome children aged 11 and under, and their adults to come and take part in a variety of workshops at the Balcony studios, upstairs at Brighton Open Market, as well as spooky storytelling,and trick or treating in the market place.
Visit the Balcony studios (Arlo’s Cabin, Quiet Down There, Sew Fabulous, and Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage) for free workshops on bat making, Hijack Halloween crafts, Halloween window transfers, badge making and spooky photography.
Local arts organisation Same Sky will mount a creative installation in the market place to create an All Hallows Eve vibe, along with a jam packed afternoon of half term family fun including storytelling, trick or treating (bring a bag!) and music.
We’ll be working with traders, artists and other organisations to create an inclusive and lively event attracting existing and new customers and participants.
In addition to Halloween, this live event will also form part of the Open Market’s 100 year anniversary. We will be launching our new open market zine at this event to help share and promote our work. Come and help celebrate the centenary of this landmark site!

Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has a special affordable for room bookings for our central Brighton studio for charities and small organisations in the community sector.
Our booking rate is only £7.50 per hour, so make some savings whilst you can!
Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has affordable space available to rent in its’ Brighton’s Open Market based studio (mezzanine level) between 9-6pm weekdays and weekends throughout the year.
If you’d like a cosy, central Brighton space to try out a new workshop activity, run training sessions, access hot desk space space, or to run a regular creative session for up to ten people each time (that’s our limit due to room size), then get in touch!
‘We loved it!’ Brighton Housing Trust
The studio offers broadband, a disability access lift, WC, heating, tables and chairs, flip chart holder, as well as a kitchen area with microwave, sink with running hot and cold water, and kettle, cups and teapots etc for your own refreshments. Refreshments can also be provided for you as an extra cost, as can flip chart paper.
