Brighton & Hove in WWI – Free event day

We welcome you to a free event day exploring Brighton and Hove during WWI and showcasing two related projects The Orange Lilies – Brighton & Hove in the Somme (Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage), and The Boys on The Plaque (Fabrica gallery).
There will also be a book launch for The Boys on the Plaque project, and an exhibition also based at Jubilee Library for The Orange Lilies project.
The event is a drop in event, but welcome to come all day!

Drawing with Textiles – Free workshops from Strike a Light

Creative drop in activities for young people aged 11-24
(part of Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage The Orange Lilies project).
On Saturday 11th March 2017 from 11am – 4pm at Jubilee Library, Jubilee Street, Brighton BN1 1GE. This will take place in the Young Peoples area in the library.
Sessions continue after this on Thursdays 16th, 23rd & 30th from 4 – 6pm, also at Jubilee Library.
Drop in activities, no need to book!

Dr Blighty – Brighton activities

Strike a Light has just finished the schools and activity delivery of the Dr Blighty project for Nutkhut after a hectic six weeks in Brighton and Hove! Last we we rounded things up with a trip to the Royal Pavilion with curator Kevin Bacon who gave the Brighton and Hove Home Education Group pupils a talk about Indian Soldiers in the city during World War I.

Brighton Black History

We had a lovely time at our WWI themed Conversation Cafes yesterday, meeting at Jubilee Library, Brighton with speaker Cuthbert Williams MBE, Chair of the organisation Brighton Black History, sharing stories of the BME community in the city during the Great War. Many thanks to him for taking time to come and meet our group and to Jubilee Library for hosting us for the session.
