Rise & View Krew – Kids Holiday Club Summer 2020

We’re pleased to announce that Rise & View Krew activities will be going ahead this summer!

Due to social distancing, we won’t be able to have physical sessions as we did last year, so instead we’re going to be delivering specially created packs to families in the Saunders Park area to make at home.

These will be a range of activities created by one of our talented artists which will be aimed at ages 5-8/9-11 and packs will be delivered to your door on 30th July!

These Art Packs are FREE, but you will need to register for these (max 2 per household) by 24th July 2020.

To have your summer sessions at home this year, please email: strikealight@rocketmail.com for a short registration form

Thanks to both National Lottery and BHCC for funding this scheme.

Studio/Office/Workshop space to rent

We have space in our central Brighton office and studio coming up to share!

Would you like to join us? The space available is a large desk, shelving, storage, kitchenette, Wifi, and use of workshop tables. There is also access to loading bays, trader discounts and meeting space.

This would be for long term use but we would consider short term use too.

The space is available from beginning March 2020 onwards and will be sharing with Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage and our occasional studio hires.

If you would like to find out more then do get in touch!

Our space is available any time from now onwards. Our current sub tenants are moving out on 9th April, but they have said if we find someone sooner they are happy to move out before so we are advertising it as avail asap.

You are welcome to come and view the space if you like. Address below.

Space is a desk and a fair amount of storage in the studio, along with use of the main meeting tables and whiteboard etc for meetings and so on. We currently have a shared diary with the current sub tenants so that we can make sure there’s no clash but that is for important meetings and studio bookings (which we have sometimes).
Otherwise it’s pretty informal and we are often in at the same time working on respective projects with no clash.

There’s also a shared kitchenette with sink, microwave, minifridge, storage, plates cups etc to use.

The space is accessible at the market from 8am-7.30pm Mondays to Fridays, 8-6pm on Saturdays and 9-5pm on Sundays, and we have a post box to receive our mail at the market with keys. Also accessible on the balcony.

The space is £285 pcm and includes all utilities, broadband, service charge and cleaning.

There are loading bays downstairs which you can use for delivery and unloading but not for parking. We are on the bus route and near Brighton train station too.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Prices and further information available on enquiry –https://strikealight.org/contact-us/

PAST:PRESENT:FUTURE schools workshops at Fabrica

Fabrica – Past:Present:Future

PAST: PRESENT: FUTURE is a project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which is being undertaken by Fabrica Gallery and some of its volunteers. This project will bring to light previously unexplored history about the exhibition space, a restoration of some of the churches key original features and an amazing learning resource in the form of a book detailing the story of the Holy Trinity Church.

Fabrica have partnered with Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage to deliver a series of three years of Heritage Open Days activities. These open days will be taking place in September 2019, 2020 and 2021.

These take the form of creative schools workshops based on restoration of stained glass at Fabrica gallery – part of the Holy Trinity Church 200th building anniversary.

Shalom Sussex project website

Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage has set up a new project website to support the Shalom Sussex – The Jewish Community in WWI to profile the contribution Jewish people in Sussex made during the First World War – both on the home-front and abroad on the battlefield.

Jewish people make up a small part of the Sussex demographic, and with partners and participants we have realised how little information is available about this topic. We seek to research, explore and share this hidden history.
