We went off to the launch yesterday at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton of the Dr Blighty project Educational Learning Toolkit we created for the London based organisation Nutkhut in 2016 and 2017.
We were pleased to see this newly finished learning toolkit which is available for Brighton and Hove schools (Key stages 2 & 3) to learn more about the history of Indian Soldiers in the city during WWI.
Strike a Light has just finished the schools and activity delivery of the Dr Blighty project for Nutkhut after a hectic six weeks in Brighton and Hove! Last we we rounded things up with a trip to the Royal Pavilion with curator Kevin Bacon who gave the Brighton and Hove Home Education Group pupils a talk about Indian Soldiers in the city during World War I.
Join us for FREE creative family activities at Jubilee Library, Brighton this November.
(Part of Nutkhut’s celebrated Dr Blighty project).
Drop in activities, no need to book!
11am-4.30pm Sunday 27th November
Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage will be running a series of free educational workshops in Brighton and Hove as part of the Dr Blighty project in October and November 2016.
If your school or educational provider would be interested in accessing free activities do please contact us: strikealight@rocketmail.com
We are looking for 4 or 5 young people aged between 8 and 14 who would be able to come to the Royal Pavilion for a recording session in March. The recordings will then be taken away and edited for May so this is a one off engagement!
Strike a Light is pleased to announce joining a new collaboration for Brighton Festival with lead companyNutkhut.
The ambitious, large-scale, immersive outdoor experience Dr Blighty recalls Brighton’s WWI wartime history, bringing the experiences of Indian soldiers – and the locals who came to care for them – movingly back to life via an immersive walk-through installation across the Royal Pavilion Estate.
The Dr Blighty project team will be holding some voice recordings in the Music Room at the Royal Pavilion on the evening of Thursday 10 March (5.30pm – 10.30pm) and are looking for some older voices to record as part of this.
