Stories of the City, Stories of the Sea

On Thursday 23rd June, Fabrica gallery hosted an exciting, free event aimed at celebrating the experiences of older people through stories. The afternoon of events aimed at older audiences, centred around the theme of tales—stories of buttons, tall tales, yarns, and singing for your supper.

Visitors to the gallery participated in talks, a button museum from Ragroof Theatre, an Archivia film showing from Earthstock films, creative making activities with artist Jane Fordham, and an afternoon tea with a difference. Visitors to the event were able to relax, meet and encounter visual art in an entrancing, positive creative way through the medium of Fabrica’s Growing an Older Audience project, made possible through a grant from the Arts Council.

A visitor to the event at Fabrica said To everyone at Fabrica who made the event such a success -THANK YOU ALL, very much. We had such a lovely, and unexpected, afternoon’. The event was organised in conjunction with the arts and heritage organisation Strike a Light for Fabrica.
