A round up of our Shalom Sussex project events this year. There’s a lot of them!

The Shalom Sussex- The Jewish Community in World War I project will take place between March 2019 and March 2020, and will be hosting or visiting the following events during that time.

Wednesday 7th August 10-1pm: Research drop in at The Keep, Woollards Way, Brighton BN1 9BP with Dr Diana Wilkins to help support researchers with the Shalom Sussex project.

Friday 9th August 11-12pm: Jewish reminiscence session at Hyman Fine House, 20 Burlington Street, Brighton. All welcome.

Wednesday 14th August 9-6pm: Volunteer Heritage Researcher research outing to National Archives at Kew to research Jewish Lives. Bring a packed lunch! Travel provided.

Friday 23rd August 11-3pm: Jewish Care outing to Newhaven Fort, East Sussex to see WWI exhibitions.

Wednesday 28th August 10.30-11.30pm: Volunteer Heritage Researcher meeting to discuss Shalom Sussex and look at opportunities and activities. To take place at Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage, Studio 8, Balcony, Open Market, Marshalls Row, Brighton BN1 4JU

Tuesday 10th December 2019 2-7pm: One day conference on Shalom Sussex – Jewish People in WWI, Brighton. Room 105, University of Brighton, Edward Street, Brighton.Speakers include – Dr Gideon Reuveni – Director of the Centre for German-Jewish Studies, and Dr Mark Connelly a specialist in Jewish memorialisation post-WWI and Jewish veterans in the 1920s.Additional speakers are the Shalom Sussex project manager and researchers sharing their findings.
