Strike a Light in conjunction with the Memories Past group in Portslade have been awarded some funding from Sussex Community Foundation to create a short film about the theme of Hope and older people in Brighton and Hove. This will enable the Memories Past group to work with a filmmaker and link with other similar groups such as the BME Elders to look at their dreams and aspirations. This film will be projected onto the exterior of Fabrica gallery during a programme of related cultural events which will celebrate the rich and varied lives of older people in the Brighton area, and celebrating our hopes and wishes for the future, promoting the idea that people in their 60s and upwards have much to look forward to!
The main projections will take place during White Night, an evening of free events at the end of October 2011 to celebrate the clocks going back. The project will lead to older people in Brighton contributing to a virtual scrapbook of personal feelings, hopes and photos capturing snap-shops of our lives in the area in the present, but with a view to the future and how these wishes and our lives will change .
